P.S.D.C. Classifies M.A.G.A. a Hate-Group

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus designates the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement of the Trump (47) regime, as understood and defined by this organization, as a hate-promoting political movement whose exclusionary elements conflict with our fundamental commitments to equality, religious freedom, human dignity, and inclusive democracy.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus recognizes that political movements must be evaluated not only by their stated objectives, but also by the rhetoric they promote, the policies they advocate, and the consequences those policies have for the rights and dignity of individuals and communities.

Our organization is committed to a democratic society in which people of every race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious tradition, and philosophical conviction can participate freely and equally. We believe that political movements that promote hostility toward marginalized communities, undermine equal rights, or seek to exclude individuals from full participation in society on the basis of identity must be challenged openly and held accountable.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus designates the MAGA movement, in its organizational and ideological expression as defined by this statement, as a hate-promoting movement because we believe that significant elements of its political rhetoric and policy agenda encourage exclusion, stigmatization, and the unequal treatment of vulnerable and marginalized communities.

This designation expresses the official political and ethical judgment of the Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus. It is not a claim that a government agency or independent organization has formally classified every component of the movement as a hate group under a universally accepted legal definition.

Our concern centers on political rhetoric and policies that we believe threaten the principles of equality, pluralism, religious liberty, and equal protection under the law. We reject the normalization of dehumanizing language, the scapegoating of minority communities, and the portrayal of entire populations as threats because of their identities or beliefs.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus rejects racial supremacy, racism, xenophobia, and the discrimination or exclusion of individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity, or national origin.

We oppose political rhetoric and policies that portray racial or ethnic minorities as inherently dangerous, inferior, or undeserving of equal rights. We affirm that America's diversity is a reality of our national life and that every individual deserves dignity and equal protection. We will challenge any political movement, including elements of the MAGA movement, when its conduct or advocacy promotes racial hostility, ethnic scapegoating, or unequal treatment.

As an organization rooted in the Pagan community, the Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus is particularly concerned with political efforts that privilege one religious tradition over others or seek to impose particular religious doctrines through government authority.

We affirm the rights of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Pagans, Indigenous spiritual communities, adherents of other faiths, and people without religious affiliation to practice their beliefs—or to hold no religious beliefs—without discrimination or coercion.

We oppose Christian nationalism when it seeks to subordinate the rights of religious minorities or transform the government into an instrument of religious preference. No American should have to conceal their faith, abandon their spiritual tradition, or profess a particular religion to be treated as a full and equal citizen.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus affirms the equal dignity and rights of people of every sexual orientation and gender identity.

We oppose policies and rhetoric that stigmatize LGBTQ+ individuals, deny them equal protection, or treat their existence as incompatible with participation in public life. We believe that families, relationships, and identities should not be used as instruments of political scapegoating.

Where MAGA-aligned policies or political advocacy seek to restrict the rights, safety, or equal participation of LGBTQ+ people, we will oppose those efforts through lawful democratic engagement and public advocacy.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus rejects the dehumanization of immigrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations.

We recognize the authority of governments to establish and enforce immigration laws, but insist that such laws and their enforcement must respect human dignity, due process, and applicable legal protections. We oppose collective blame, racialized hostility, and rhetoric that portrays entire nationalities or ethnic communities as inherently criminal or dangerous.

We believe that public policy must distinguish legitimate questions of law and governance from attempts to cultivate fear or hostility toward people based on their origins.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus believes that democratic government depends on free and fair elections, respect for constitutional protections, peaceful transfers of power, an independent judiciary, and the ability of the public to criticize those in authority.

We oppose political intimidation, the suppression of lawful civic participation, and efforts to weaken democratic institutions or deny equal rights to disfavored communities.

We will scrutinize the actions of MAGA-aligned politicians and organizations against these principles and publicly oppose policies that undermine democratic accountability, civil liberties, or the equal standing of individuals under the law.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus condemns hateful ideologies and exclusionary political practices. However, we recognize that individuals may identify with a political movement for different reasons, and that political affiliation alone does not establish that a particular person has committed an act of hatred or discrimination.

Our designation is directed at the movement's ideological and political expression as described in this statement, not at the inherent worth of every individual who supports, has supported, or associates with MAGA.

We will challenge harmful conduct and rhetoric wherever they arise, while preserving the principles of free expression, peaceful political participation, and equal treatment that we seek to defend.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus will continue to advocate for policies and public practices that protect racial equality, religious freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, bodily autonomy, immigrant dignity, and democratic participation.

We encourage our members and supporters to challenge hateful rhetoric, educate their communities, engage elected representatives, support affected populations, and participate in civic life through lawful and peaceful means.

We will not remain silent when we believe that political power is being used to marginalize communities, undermine equal rights, or weaken the democratic principles that protect us all.

The Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus hereby adopts this statement as its official organizational position, designating the MAGA movement, as defined herein, as a hate-promoting political movement whose exclusionary elements are incompatible with the Caucus's principles of equality, inclusion, religious freedom, and democratic participation.

We affirm that opposition to hate must be grounded in consistent principles: the protection of human dignity, the rejection of discrimination, the defense of equal rights, and accountability for those who exercise political power.

We stand against hate, against supremacy, against discrimination, and against the use of government to deny any community its rightful place in a free and democratic society.

Faith. Freedom. Democracy.

Adopted as the official position of the Pagan Socialist Democratic Caucus on the MAGA movement and the defense of democratic equality.
